Yuri Venediktov: «Our main goal is to prevent the death of people on the water»
The topic for the meeting with media representatives is "On measures to ensure safety at water bodies during the bathing season and navigation of small vessels in the Republic of Tatarstan".
Hot weather in July calls the inhabitants of the republic to the reservoirs. Last weekend thousands of people rested on the banks of rivers and lakes of the republic. Both adults and children become victims of the water element.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been:
- incidents on the water – 70 (the same period last year – 83);
- 47 dead, including 8 children (the same period last year – 65, including 6 children).
At the legislative level, there is a ban on bathing in dangerous areas that are not equipped according to safety requirements.
In order to prevent the death of people on water bodies, 159 patrol groups with a total of 529 people have been created in municipal districts of the republic since June 01. The main purpose of these groups is patrolling places of mass recreation of the population near water bodies and preventing citizens from bathing in dangerous places near forbidding full houses and in a state of intoxication.
