The head of the Republican Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Lieutenant General of the internal Service Rafis Khabibullin expressed today during a briefing for media representatives. One issue was discussed on the agenda of the meeting: "On readiness for spring flooding."
At the end of February, the height of the snow cover on the territory of the republic is much higher than the average annual values. Therefore, this year's flood may take place according to a tense scenario. Municipal districts have been asked to switch to a high-alert mode from today, and in case of flooding - to immediately switch to an emergency mode.
With the unfavorable development of the spring flood, according to our forecast, more than 200 settlements, about 20 automobile bridges, a number of socially significant objects and economic objects may possibly get into the flooding zone.
But, judging by the weather forecast, which was announced by Sergey Zakharov, in the near future conditions are developing for a favorable passage of the flood. Night air temperatures will go to minus, and during the day it will warm from 4 to 6 degrees.
Measures to undermine the ice will be carried out based on the operational situation, during the opening of rivers. Applications for blasting were received from 13 districts for 20 water bodies near 37 settlements.
