Senior Sergeant Salavat Salakhov was discharged from the Guard in May 1985. He remembers the day of returning home in great detail. He says he seemed to be flying from the bus station, it seemed that his feet did not reach the ground with joy. The most important thing that I have learned for myself over the years of service in Afghanistan is that people need to believe. This works in life, and especially in war. The lack of complete trust in colleagues generates excessive fuss, and this can threaten to disrupt the operation.
Service in the army, and it was in Afghanistan that had a great influence on the fate of Salavat in general and on the choice of profession in particular. After all, after demobilization, the defender of the Fatherland again successfully proved himself in protecting the population, but already from fires. Every year Salavat Salakhov participates in events dedicated to the memory of internationalist soldiers, conducts talks with schoolchildren, and organizes meetings of Afghans. Surprisingly, despite the hardships that have befallen the youthful psyche that has not yet become stronger, this smiling cheerful person radiates optimism and kindness.
