More than 1 thousand human lives were saved in emergency situations in the regions of the Volga Federal District by the end of 2021

On January 20, 2021, a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the Protection of the Population and Territories from Emergencies and Fire Safety was held. The event was held in a video conference mode under the leadership of Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District, Chairman of the Interdepartmental Commission Igor Panshin.
The participants of the meeting summed up the results of joint activities in the prevention and liquidation of emergency situations, ensuring fire safety and the safety of people on water bodies in the district over the past year and identified a list of tasks in 2022.
In the outgoing year, the main efforts of the interested structures were aimed at fighting forest fires. At the same time, according to Igor Panshin, the experience of fighting forest fires made it possible to avoid human casualties and minimize the consequences of fires.
The positive dynamics of the increase in the units of various types of fire protection was noted. In 2021, an additional 30 new divisions were created. In addition, more than 9 thousand residential areas with a population of more than 2 million people were covered by the forces of volunteer fire brigades and squads.
