Practically yearly, the small river Sulitsa floods in spring in Verkhny Uslon District because of massive snow melt. The river flows through the settlements of Kuralovo and Russkoe Burnashevo. In the village of Kuralovo, 46 houses with the population of 106 people fall into flooding; all of them are located on the lowland of the river. In order to forecast somehow the Sulitsa’s behavior this spring, the Chief of of Verkhny Uslon fire and rescue garrison together with the Chairman of the Commission on Emergency Situations and Fire Safety of the district organized a monitoring of the flooding situation by using an unmanned aircraft.

Incidents as of March 9:

Fire departments of Federal Fire Service of the Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan went on alert 41 times. Including garbage extinguishing – 4, abandoned building extinguishing – 1, false alarms – 17, short circuit of wiring without burning – 2, meal burning – 4, cooperation with other services – 6, others – 1. Firefighters of the republic eliminated 4 fires, including residential sector – 1. 2 people died.

Workers of the separate post “Izhevka” of Naberezhnye Chelny squad of State Budgetary Institution of “Fire Service of the Republic of Tatarstan” with the head of the rural settlement of Izhevka held a preventive raid at places where many fishermen stay on the ice. Despite the set signs about the prohibition of walking on the ice, fishermen go on fishing. People are not afraid of both multiple scours, or open water spots. The employees warned fishermen about the danger of walking on the ice and gave memos on people’s safe behavior on the ice.

Professional level of fire service employees is formed by multiple drills and trainings, as well as competitions on professional skills. One of such competitions on combat deployment among duty guards of fire and rescue departments was organized among firefighters of the 1st squad of federal fire service for the Republic of Tatarstan, who protect enterprises of petrochemical complex in the city of Nizhnekamsk, which are the part of JSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim”. The competitions took place in training polygon of the squad. It was attended by 52 duty guards each consisting of 5 people.

Including garbage extinguishing – 1, abandoned building extinguishing – 1, false alarms – 9, short circuit of wiring without burning – 2, meal burning – 3, cooperation with other services – 6. Firefighters of the republic eliminated 5 fires, including residential sector – 2, outhouses – 2, construction vans – 1. 1 person was injured.

Incidents as of March 7:

Fire departments of Federal Fire Service of the Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan went on alert 40 times. Including garbage extinguishing – 3, false alarms – 15, short circuit of wiring without burning – 0, meal burning – 2, cooperation with other services – 10. Firefighters of the republic eliminated 6 fires, including residential sector – 1, outhouses – 3.

The Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan warns:

It is dangerous to pass over a river, pond, lake on the ice in spring. You need to carefully watch signs, which denote crosswalks, use special flooring on the ice.  According to the data of the Center of GIMS EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, ice breaking process has already begun on small rivers of the Republic of Tatarstan. There are big scours and ice holes on bit water reservoirs. Car traffic on the ice is strictly prohibited!

Real men, strong, brave, courageous and attentive, rescuers and firefighters on duty in republican districts behind the Volga, created a touching video congratulation for the tender half of humanity. Employees of fire departments of Kaybitsy, Drozhzhanoe, Tetyshi, Kamskoe Ustye and Verkhny Uslon Districts joined to make this clip.

Inspectors of the Center of GIMS EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan conduct technical examinations at all acting ice passages, today; according to their results they will make a decision about the expediency of natural roads on the Volga and Kama rivers. According to the Chief of People’s Safety Department on Water Bodies of the Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, Yuri Venediktov, the sharp warming, as well as continuing positive temperatures in the daytime and at night influences on the ice strength on ice passages, ice-slick appears and melt water accumulates.
