The solemn event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Soviet fire service and the 55th anniversary of the fire and rescue department № 28 on the protection of the 'Kazanorgsintez' plant took place today in the building of the Department of the Federal Fire Service № 5 for the Republic Tatarstan. Not only active employees, but also invited veterans of this unit attended the assembly hall of the detachment.

In honor of the professional holiday of firefighters several events are held in 8th squad of the federal fire service. Meetings, gathering their veterans and congratulations of them on their professional holiday were decided to be organized this year to the 100 anniversary of the Soviet fire service. Respectable guests visited fire departments, where they served many years ago, again they were able to remember their combat youth and talk with former colleagues. Veterans visited the Museum of Fire Service of Zelenodolsk. Many of them were presented with commemorative medals of '100 anniversary of the Soviet fire service' at the festival.

Forces and means of EMERCOM of Russia consisted of 4 people and 2 units of equipment were sent to the scene: Khivas-6 hovercraft and 2 type 'Kazan' rowing boats. At 2.35 PM GIMS rescuers on Khivas-6 found the separated ice with 6 fishermen at the distance of 4 km from the shore. During the period from 2.40 PM to 2.50 PM all fishermen were evacuated to the hovercraft; there were no casualties.

Today topical topics were discussed in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan at a briefing for the mass media: 'Providing fire safety in the spring and summer period in forests and settlements of the Republic of Tatarstan', 'Passing of flood on the territory of Tatarstan'. The deputy head of the Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, head of supervisory department, Colonel of internal service, Sergey Sergeyev, told about the situation with fires and burnings. The Deputy Minister of civil defence and emergency situations of the Republic of Tatarstan, Nikolay Surzhko, told about the flood situation as of 16.04.2018.

On the day of the anniversary we remember the way that the fire service has done during the past time, all those who dedicated their lives to the protection of people, material and cultural values from fire, we honor our veterans, pay tribute to our comrades who died during duty service. I wish you professional growth, success in service, strong health, happiness and family well-being.

On the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan followings remain flooded: 14 household plots in 2 settlements, 4 low bridges, 1 section of dirt road. Working of 9 task forces is planned to monitor the flood situation. 1 UAV (GIMS) using is planned for aerial monitoring on April 17 in Laishevo Municipal District.

After the 1917 revolution, the new government attached great importance to the issue of creating a new state fire protection. Already on April 17, 1918, the Decree 'On the organization of state measures to combat fire' was issued and signed by Vladimir Lenin. From that day, the Soviet fire service, which became the successor of the Russian fire service, keeps its history. After the civil war, the equipping of the fire service with new equipment began. By the mid-30s, the equestrian thrust in fire brigades had gone into history.

Incidents as of April 16:

Fire departments of Federal Fire Service of the Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan went on alert 67 times. Including garbage extinguishing – 14, false alarms – 32, short circuit of wiring without burning – 1, meal burning – 3, cooperation with other services – 13. Firefighters of the republic eliminated 2 fires: residential sector – 2. 1 person was injured.

The regional stage of the All-Russian command and staff drill on liquidation of consequences of emergency situations caused by floods and natural fires has started in Tatarstan. The drill will take place in several stages from April 17 to 19. It will involve the forces of territorial subsystems of the unified state system of prevention and liquidation of emergency situations in all 85 subjects of the Russian Federation.

On April 17, fire service of the USSR marks the 100 anniversary. In those years firefighters learned to protect from fire not only residential buildings and other constructions, but also the largest industrial enterprises. Among them there is the largest in Russia and in Europe Nizhnekamsk Petrochemical Industrial Complex, and firefighters of 1 squad stay at its fire service. In just a year, the Nizhnekamsk squad will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its foundation.
