Today employees of the Kazan branch of Center SISSV have spent spot-check for the preventive maintenance purpose of death of people on ice. During spot-check on Kazanka river groups of the people who are engaged in fishing have been revealed. As the gauging have shown, the thickness of ice on Kazanka is no more than 3-4 cm, and in places only the appeared ice cover in general has thawn.

Only after numerous preventions of the SISSV inspectors it was possible to force fans of ice fishing, who unreasonably risked the lives on thin ice, to get over the coast. Employees of the SISSV spend such spot-checks daily. Very often inspectors face misunderstanding of the people carried away by their passion. For example, the case in Laishevsky district: on the river Kama the fisherman has fallen under the ice which thickness did not exceed 2 cm. People, risking their lives for several pounds of fish, again go on thin ice. As fishermen speak: «It like a drug for us!»

The death of children on ice also remains one more problem. Children, left alone without supervision of adults, often makes life-threatening acts. A case, which has occurred in Spassky district, is the acknowledgement. The 11 years old boy has left the house to skate on thin ice of the Bezdna river on November, 18th at 4:45 p.m. Only next day divers of the Zone Search and Rescue Group 3 could find out a body of the boy.

The State inspection on small size vessels insistently warns fans of ice fishing about danger on thin ice.
