“Sky Lanterns” Banned!

It is not a rear case when a launched “sky lantern” may cause fires. Falling of a lantern onto a balcony of a residential building, a wooden structure, dry grass, a petrol station and other objects possibly may cause a fire, including the tragic consequences.

According to the item 77 of the Rules of Fire Safety Regime, approved by the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on April 25, 2012 № 390, “launching uncontrollable articles made of combustible materials, of which the lift height is based on heating the air inside the structure with an open fire on the territory of settlements and urban districts, as well as at a distance of less than 100 meters from forests is banned”.

Citizens who have committed illegal acts, face fines from 1 000 to 1 500 rubles, officials — from 6 000 to 15 000 rubles, legal entities — from 150 000 to 200 000 rubles.

For the same acts committed during a special fire-fighting regime, fines will be: for citizens — from 2 000 to 4 000 rubles, for officials — from 15 000 to 30 000 rubles, for legal entities — from 400 000 to 500 000 rubles.
