Radiation and Chemical Observations Post Was Deployed at Urussu State Regional Electric Power Station

The readiness of freelance emergency rescue units of SREPS, namely, radiation and chemical observation post, to implement tasks in the event of a release of radioactive substances into the air, was tested in the framework of the Month of Civil Defense in Yutazinsky District on the basis of “NGK Urussinskaya SREPS”.

A practice task was set in front of the staff – to determine the extent of the contaminated area of SREPS with radioactive substances. Before the implementation of the given task, the staff put on protective rubber suits and gas masks. Then, they designated the danger zone with special signs “radioactive”. After that, using dosimeter devices they determined the extent of contamination and reported the results of the observation to a responsible person.
