The meeting of the Commission for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations and Fire Safety of the Republic was held today under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin.
He said that in an unfavorable scenario of spring flooding, 218 settlements, 5,700 residential buildings with a population of 13.4 thousand people, 55 sections of highways, 28 automobile bridges and 9 socially significant facilities could fall into the zone of possible flooding. Moreover, 8 settlements may be cut off as a result of flooding.
If the above forecasts come true, it is proposed that municipal districts switch to high alert mode, and if necessary, immediately switch to emergency mode.
Sergey Zakharov, Head of the Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of the Republic of Tatarstan, said that a calm flood situation is predicted in Tatarstan due to the low-snow winter and moderate spring temperatures.
