10th anniversary of the «Emergency Call Service – 112» of Tatarstan

13 August 2024, Tuesday

August 13, 2024 marked the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan on the establishment of the state budgetary institution of the Republic of Tatarstan "Emergency Call Service – 112".
In order to create a service for receiving emergency calls by a single number "112", an initiative group was created in 2009 from employees of the Department of the State fire service of the Republic of Tatarstan, which was to create an entirely new service. A huge range of technical, regulatory, legal, financial, organizational and staff tasks had to be solved. There was nothing like this in Russia at that time. Everything had to be solved from scratch. The experience of the emergency operational services of Russia and abroad was studied.
Since 2013, calls have been received from all over the republic from all mobile and landline operators.
In April 2014, by order of the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation, a single emergency call number "112" was introduced in the Republic of Tatarstan.
To receive calls from people with hearing and speech impairments, 6 positions of specialists with knowledge of Russian sign language (sign language interpreters) were introduced into the staffing of the institution in 2020.
Calls to the 112 number can be received by specialists in receiving and processing emergency calls in Russian, Tatar and English. During major international events, volunteers with knowledge of the languages of the participating countries are involved in receiving calls.
Today, the staff consists of 113 people: 92 of them are specialists in receiving and processing emergency calls (including 6 specialists with knowledge of Russian sign language) and 8 psychologists.
Today, the 112 number is available to every resident and guest of Tatarstan, you can make a free call even with a negative balance, no network or from a phone without a SIM card.
