Security issues of New Year and Christmas holidays were discussed at a briefing in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan
Deputy Chief state inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan for fire supervision Maxim Trushchin presented information on the state of fire safety of the objects of festive events at a press conference organized in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan for representatives of the mass media.
The speaker from the Ministry of emergency situations began his speech with statistical data on fires in the past new year holidays. On average, every year on new year's days, the number of fires compared to normal days increases by 20 %, death-by 50 %.
So, in the period from 30.12.2019 to 10.01.2020, 131 fires were registered in the Republic of Tatarstan ( THE SAME PERIOD OF THE LAST YEAR-107, +22.4%), which killed 11 people ( THE SAME PERIOD OF THE LAST YEAR – 5, +20%), injured 10 people ( THE SAME PERIOD OF THE LAST YEAR – 17, -41.2%).
The main causes of fires during the new year holidays of 2019-20 in the Republic of Tatarstan were:
- incorrect installation and malfunction of heating stoves and chimneys – 25 fires (19.3%);
- careless handling of fire – 78 fires or 59.5% of the total number of fires;
- violation of the rules of technical operation of electrical equipment -37 fires (28.2%);
- arson – 3 fires (2,3%);
- violation of the rules of the device and operation of vehicles – 4 fires (3.1%).
The main number of fires in the new year holidays of 2019-20 in the Republic of Tatarstan fell on the residential sector-87 fires (66.4%), which killed 11 people (100%) and injured 4 people (40%).
Due to the fault of drunk people, 15 fires occurred, which killed 7 people, injured 3 people.
In this regard, the Main Department of EMERCOM of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan jointly with the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan developed and implemented a complex of organizational and practical measures aimed at ensuring fire safety during the Christmas and New Year festive events 2020-2021 years.
