EMERCOM employees began conducting necessary activities on safety provision several days before Epiphany. About five thousand people were at holiday places within two days in Zelenodolsk District, more than a thousand people were not afraid of immersing into cold water. According to rescuers and firefighters, there were no incidents during immersions in their memory, and the orthodox holiday always ended safely.

Incidents as of January 19:

Fire departments of Federal Fire Service of the Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan went on alert 38 times. Including garbage extinguishing – 4, false alarms – 13, short circuit of wiring without burning – 4, meal burning – 3, cooperation with other services – 8. Firefighters of the republic eliminated 3 fires, including residential sector – 1. 1 person was injured.

On January 19, EMERCOM rescuers, medics and police employees went on duty at all places of Epiphany orthodox holiday. Firefighters and rescuers took all 13 places of holiday events, including 8 fonts, under control on the territory of Zelenodolsk Municipal District.

Including garbage extinguishing – 2, false alarms – 14, short circuit of wiring without burning – 1, meal burning – 0, cooperation with other services – 12. Firefighters of the republic eliminated 8 fires, including residential sector – 4, outhouses – 2, garden houses – 1, various types of property – 1. 2 people died. 1 person was injured.

Mass immersion of religious people on open waters will be organized in 28 municipal districts in 89 fonts. Moreover, blessing of the waters with possible pouring will take place at 26 streams and 27 chalices in 26 municipal districts. Heating and hot tea spots are ready at immersion places. Also, they are equipped with rescue means.

Including garbage extinguishing – 6, false alarms – 22, short circuit of wiring without burning – 0, meal burning – 3, cooperation with other services – 12. Firefighters of the republic eliminated 6 fires, including residential sector – 4, vehicles – 1, various types of property – 1. 1 person was rescued.

In the beginning of 2017, the fire and rescue department No. 29 of the 1st squad on the protection of industrial facilities of JSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” marked its 50th anniversary. On January 1967 militarized fire department No. 29 was founded; its staff was 137 people. That years, employees of that newly founded department had hard time. Industrial facilities of the company handed over in short time and fires occurred very often at the start of production.

Including garbage extinguishing – 3, false alarms – 18, short circuit of wiring without burning – 1, meal burning – 3, cooperation with other services – 5. Firefighters of the republic eliminated 5 fires, including residential sector – 1, outhouses – 3, various types of property – 1.

Employees of Kazan department of the Center of GIMS of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan finished checking the ice thickness at places of traditional Epiphany immersions, today. Holes were drilled in the presence of the media representatives on one of those places, which is located on the river Kazanka by the Church of the Miraculous Image of Christ the Redeemer. The ice thickness on the given spot was 43 cm. EMERCOM representatives recommend people with weakened health, those who has recently undergone surgery, who tend to sudden arterial pressure changes, pregnant women and those who drunk for courage, to refrain from immersion.
