Firefighters reported on their disastrous situation at 5:24 P.M. on February 3. One of the fishermen told that their three-wheel snowmobile with a trailer broke down and they could not reach the river bank by themselves, and that they were freezing. It got dark and there was a snowstorm. After the alarm signal was received in FRD-122 OFPS-15 for RT, Chief of the fire and rescue department Valery Gubernatorov personally called the fishermen and advised to kindle a fire from improvised materials.
With the help of the burning fire, at 7:00 P.M. the fishermen were found on the river ice 20 km from the bank. At 7:15 P.M. rescuers of ZPSO No. 6 from Naberezhnye Chelny arrived to the scene. The rescuers and firefighters delivered the fishermen born in 1977, 1985, and 1985 to the river bank (one fisherman had reached the bank by himself before the rescuers arrived). All of the rescued were the residents of the city of Menzelinsk. They refused medical care.
