Ice on the Reservoirs of the Republic Is Still Unstable

“At present time, icy situation on the reservoirs of the republic has clearly unstable character”, noticed Chief of Department of Safety on Water Objects of the Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, Main State Inspector for Small Vessels, Yuri Venediktov. “It is connected with anomalous high temperature which aren’t typical for middle December. Icy cover is just on bays, small ponds and lakes. But there is no ice on big reservoirs, or it’s absolutely unstable.”

From the beginning of freeze-over 5 people died, another 42 people were rescued by rescuers and GIMS staff.
