Inspectors of Center of GIMS MES of Russia on the Republic of Tatarstan reported changes in legislation related to rules of small vessels navigation and use. Particularly, clear notions of small boat appeared, and the procedure of technical inspection of a small vessel is significantly facilitated.

According to head of Kazan detachment of Center of GIMS MES of Russia on the Republic of Tatarstan, Marat Ganeev, the weight of a boat or a launch subject to compulsory registration must exceed 200 kg. Motor power should be above 8 kW power or more than 10 horsepower. If some of the parameters are higher, the vessel must also be registered. Accordingly, if a flotation device weighs less than 200 kg and fitted with an engine of less than 10 h. p., it is not necessary to register. However, this does not exempt the ship owner from compliance with mandatory rules for use of small boats.

The technical inspection was used to be carried out annually before the navigation, but now the inspection of small vessels will be carried out every five years from the last registration of a vessel.
