PSYCHOLOGIST'S DAY

22 November 2025, Saturday

On November 22, Russia traditionally celebrates Psychologist's Day, a professional holiday through which we recognize the contribution of psychologists to the development and strengthening of mental health of the population and increase public understanding of the importance of psychological well–being.

Psychologists not only provide individual assistance, but also participate in the formation of healthy communications, optimization of educational and work processes, prevention of deviations and crisis situations. They also actively conduct scientific research aimed at a better understanding of the human psyche.

Despite the widespread use of psychology, unfortunately, there is still some distorted perception of this science. Some still associate it with magic or "mind reading." Many people believe that going to a psychologist is a sign of weakness or hopelessness. In reality, a psychologist is a specialist with higher education and scientific training.

Psychologists work in a wide variety of fields. Each specialization is a unique way to help a specific group of people or solve specific tasks.

One of the areas of psychological activity is the work of crisis psychologists, for example, in the "112" Emergency Call Service. The duties of psychologists include providing psychological support to applicants in crisis situations, as well as professional selection and training of personnel.

Psychology is a complex and multifaceted science based on research, ethics and professionalism. Psychologists help not only in crisis situations, but also promote personal development, professional realization and improvement of interpersonal relationships.
