Loss and grief are related but different concepts that describe the process of experiencing loss.
Loss is the very event of losing something or someone. It can be the loss of a loved one, divorce, job loss, loss of health.
Grief is an emotional reaction to this loss. It manifests itself through sadness, pain, disappointment, loneliness, anger, anxiety, and guilt.
Grief is perhaps the most difficult and painful emotion that a person experiences. The most difficult experience is grief as a result of the death of a loved one.
The staff of the Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Tatarstan, namely psychologists, have to deal with such difficult emotions more often. Since 2022, relatives of the deceased participants of the SMO - mothers, fathers, widows and children – have been undergoing medical and psychological rehabilitation in this institution.
The task of the psychologist of the Rehabilitation Center is to help a relative of the died at SMO to accept the loss, express it, live strong feelings, establish a new environment and learn to live without the lost.
