A guard at the Idel rehabilitation center in Zelenodolsk called the fire department. According to him, in the evening he went out to remove the snow and saw a tipsy man get out of a taxi and walk across the snowy bay of the Volga River to the opposite shore.
The guard tried to reason with and stop the man. But he, being intoxicated, decided to go straight through the snowdrifts. The man was able to get to the middle of the reservoir and disappeared there in the snowdrifts. The guard thought that the poor guy had fallen through the ice, and called the fire department.
Employees of the 34th fire and rescue unit arrived at the scene. They reached the lonely traveler through the snowdrifts. He just fell asleep in a snowdrift and, of course, could have frozen if not for the vigilant guard. Firefighters pulled the man out of the snow, carried him to an ambulance and handed him over to the paramedics.
