Every year on December 5, Russia celebrates the Day of the Volunteer.
Currently, almost 24 thousand volunteer organizations are registered in our country, which are involved in protecting the population and territories from emergencies, ensuring fire safety and the safety of people on water bodies. They include 517 thousand volunteers.
Since the beginning of this year, almost 26 thousand man-made fires, more than 360 forest fires and over 19 thousand landscape (natural) fires have been extinguished with the participation of volunteers. Also, voluntary rescue organizations have made more than 28 thousand trips to emergency rescue operations and participated in 2.3 thousand training camps. In total, almost half a thousand people have been rescued by volunteers since the beginning of the year.
