Measures to ensure safety at water bodies during the off-season in the Republic of Tatarstan were announced today during a briefing by Deputy head of the territorial body of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, Chief State Inspector for Small Vessels of the Republic of Tatarstan Yuri Venediktov. For the media representatives, he also announced the statistics of incidents on the reservoirs of the republic following the results of the bathing season.
According to the results of the bathing season, 69 incidents were registered in the republic, as a result of which 55 people were killed, including 8 children. Among the rescued – 50 people, among them – three children. Last year's figures were 81 accidents, 68 dead (7 children) people, and 23 rescued (9 children).
Joint work with ministries, departments and municipalities of the republic continues in the republic to increase the number of bathing beaches equipped according to safety requirements," the Chief State Inspector for Small Vessels of the Republic of Tatarstan assured.
The main causes of death of people on water bodies this year are:
- bathing in unequipped places.
- as a result of falling into a pond for health reasons or in a state of intoxication.
However, if the results of the bathing season are summed up, then the navigation of small vessels is still ongoing.
