36 years since disaster on the Chernobyl NPP: Chernobyl residents went to the liquidation of the emergency situation as to the front
Today, not only the participants of those events themselves, but also relatives of the deceased Tatarstan citizens, students of the classes of "Unarmia" and members of the All-Russian Student Corps of Rescuers gathered at the memorial complex to the Tatarstan liquidators of the Chernobyl accident in Kazan. Also, Deputy Minister for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Tatarstan Nikolay Surzhko and other honored guests took part in the solemn memorial rally.
More than one million Soviet citizens participated in the liquidation of this disaster, including more than 3.5 thousand people from Tatarstan. More than 2,700 people were drafted from Tatarstan through military enlistment offices.
The memory of the dead and those who died as a result of the Chernobyl accident was honored with a minute of silence and gun volleys. The honor guard laid a basket of red roses at the foot of the memorial.
