Nikolay Surzhko: residents living in flood zones need to take preventive measures in their home territories
This year's flood is different from the long-term average and from last year. This year, the republic has a very large snow cover, and it is not the thickness of the snow that is important, but the presence of moisture in it. This year, it significantly exceeds the norm by about 1.5 times in the republic, and this puts certain negative impressions on the passage of the flood.
This year's flood is also characterized by a significant thickness of ice on small rivers, it exceeds the average long-term values. All this imposes very serious moments on the preparation for the flood this year.
In carrying out flood control measures, the role of the residents themselves, who live in flood zones, is not detracted from. They themselves need to carry out preventive measures to divert meltwater from their homes in their courtyard territories.

All areas of flooding in the Ministry of Emergency Situations are taken under special control, - said Nikolay Surzhko.
