Fire safety rules in the autumn-winter period

20 October 2020, Tuesday

With the onset of the autumn-winter period, the number of fires in the residential sector increases sharply. In an effort to maintain heat in their homes, people use heating stoves, electric heaters, gas stoves, ovens, which under certain conditions can cause fire, and, consequently, cause injuries and death.

The main Department of the Russian emergencies Ministry in the Republic of Tatarstan calls on citizens to take more seriously the preparation of housing and surrounding areas for this time of year. Since the onset of cold weather increases the number of electric heaters included in the network, which leads to overloads of the power grid, there are insulation breakdowns and short circuits. Therefore, every homeowner should check the serviceability of electrical wiring, sockets, switches in housing and outbuildings.

In addition, you should pay attention to the implementation of fire safety requirements for the device and operation of furnaces, check their serviceability, and close up existing cracks in the furnace and chimney. At least once every three months, clean the chimneys of furnaces from soot. Also, it should be remembered that stoves and other heating devices must have fire-fighting cuts (retreats) from combustible structures, a pre-heating sheet of 0.5 x 0.7 m on a wooden floor or a floor made of other combustible materials. It is forbidden to store combustible materials near the furnaces and directly on their surface.

When preparing for winter dacha plots and households, citizens burn branches, tops, accumulated garbage, often without observing the fire safety requirements, according to which waste incineration should be carried out in specially designated places and preferably in metal containers. Such places should be organized at a distance of no closer than 50 meters from buildings and structures. The burning process must be constantly monitored, never leave the fire unattended or assign supervision to children, and also have primary fire extinguishing equipment nearby (fire extinguisher, water container, sand box).

Remember: protecting your property from fires and ensuring the safety of your health and life depends only on you!
