The wearing of life jackets for all crew members of small vessels will become mandatory in 2021
In January 2021, the Ministry of emergency situations of Russia plans to amend a number of regulations on the organization of Supervisory activities, navigation rules, requirements for Parking bases for small vessels, and a number of other documents. This was announced today By the chief state inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan for small vessels Yuri Venediktov during a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan on the topic: "On measures to ensure safety on water bodies during the off-season in the Republic of Tatarstan".
Yuri Venediktov noted that at the moment, the details of the changes being developed by the EMERCOM of Russia have not yet been brought to the regions. However, according to him, "based on the analysis of the causes of death on the water, we will offer mandatory wearing of life jackets for all crew members of small vessels from the 2021 navigation season."
As a result of analyzing the circumstances of these incidents, it was found that if these people were in life jackets at the time of the incident, the tragic results would be less.
Once again, I would like to remind skippers of the basic safety rules that allow them to save their lives. Before sailing, you must:
1. check the serviceability of the vessel and its mechanisms;
2. check the availability of necessary equipment, life-saving equipment and other supplies in accordance with the established standards. Children should always wear life jackets, and if weather conditions worsen, be sure to put life jackets on all people on the ship.
3. observe the permitted distance from the shore and the height of the wave, be sure to get information about upcoming weather conditions;
4. have a means of communication, warn relatives about the place of the proposed fishing or recreation.
