Today, a rally was held at the memorial complex in the Heroes of Chernobyl Square at the intersection of Yamashev and Amirkhan Avenues in memory of the participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident who heroically fulfilled their duty. Representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Youth, the Mayor's Office and public organizations took part in the ceremony of laying flowers to the Chernobyl victims.
April 26, 1986 is the date that changed the history of nuclear energy forever. 40 years ago, a catastrophe occurred, which became the hardest test for the whole country. The accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is a lesson that showed the price of human error and dedication. Today, four decades later, we clearly understand that the main result of those events is the unparalleled courage of people who stood in the way of an invisible threat.
Today, employees of the central office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tatarstan and its subordinate institutions have planted about 5,000 seedlings at a site near the village of Pigoli in the Laishevsky district. The event was held as part of the international campaign "Garden of Memory". This year's event takes on special significance in the context of the Year of Military and Labor Valor in the Republic of Tatarstan and the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
