Carbon Monoxide Could Cause People’s Death

On March 2016, there was received a report on poisoning of two people by carbon monoxide in a residential house by the address Nurlat Municipal District, Klinovka railroad siding. The died are a man of 1968 and a woman of 1969. The incident’s cause is being ascertained. The preliminary cause of death is poisoning by carbon monoxide from a furnace.

The Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan Warn: the most widespread carbon monoxide sources are faulty gas, oil, wood furnaces, gas appliances, water heaters in pools and engines which exhaust gases. Cracks in furnace, swamped chimney, furnace pipes blocked by snow or because of no windscreen may allow carbon monoxide get to living quarters.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the critical states of a person that leads to death. As a rule, it occurs as a result of malfunctioning heating stove in rural areas, when a person is located in a fire, in a closed car with the engine running.

First aid for carbon monoxide poisoning:

- the intake of carbon monoxide should be eliminated;

- take a victim to fresh air;

- if a victim is conscious, he is needed to be laid, provided by rest and continuous access to fresh air (to be fanned by the newspaper, turn on a fan or air conditioner);

- if a victim is unconscious, it is necessary to immediately begin chest compressions and rescue breathing until the ambulance arrival or regaining consciousness;

- remember that when taking a victim to fresh air from the place of dangerous concentration of carbon monoxide first of all you need to protect yourself to not to be poisoned too. For this, you must need to act quickly and breathe through a handkerchief, or gauze.
