Fire Safety Rules When Using Gas Appliances

In order to prevent against household gas explosion, it is necessary to know and strictly keep the following rules of using gas appliances and their care:

- fill gas bottles only at specialized centers;

- do not connect or disconnect a gas stove in an apartment by yourself;

- entrust installation, debugging, testing and repair of gas appliances and equipment to qualified specialists;

- make sure that faucets of new and waste bottles are closed before the bottle’s exchange. After the exchange check the impermeability of connections (by applying soap mixture);

- refrain from exchanging the gas bottle near fire, hot coals, turned on electric appliances;

- use a special (not random) flexible rubber hose with a marking, length of not more than a meter, fixed by safety clamps to connect the bottle with a gas stove. Do not allow its stretching and pinching;

- take measures on protection of the bottle and gas tube from heating and direct sunlight;

- keep the bottle in a ventilated room only upright;

- do not keep gas bottles in garages, apartments, on balconies;

- eliminate cases of children’s access to gas appliances;

- keep the switching sequence of gas appliances: firstly, light a match, then open the gas supply;

- if the gas supply interrupts, immediately close the shut-in tap of the burner and the reserve one on the gas pipeline;

- do not use gas stoves for heating the apartment;

- in order to prevent against gas leakage watch that boiling liquids do not pour fire during cooking. Clean the burners regularly;

- do not forget to close the bottles tap after finishing works;

- when leaving home, do not forget to turn the gas stove off and close the bottles valve;

- when the gas smell occurs you should close gas supply tap, immediately open the windows and doors for rooms’ ventilation, do not use open fire, do not turn on electricity and electric appliances, pull the phone cord out of the socket and gas service personnel on the phone 04, or firefighters and rescuers on the phone 01;

- if necessary, leave the room and warn neighbors about the incident;

- it is necessary to immediately report gas management office on every faulty of gas network, or appliances.

REMEMBER that household gas explosion in a room can cause collapse of the building, or its part, can cause fire, people’s injury and death!
