Safety Measures When Using Gas Equipment

The Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan warns: in order to avoid fire tragedy at home because of violation of fire safety rules when using gas equipment you should know the following fire safety measures:

It is forbidden to turn on gas appliances and use them by children and people who has not familiarized with the arrangement of those appliances.

When you feel gas smell stop using gas appliances (turn them off).

Identifying gas escape place on gas pipelines, gas-cylinders, or gas appliances is implemented by specialists only with the help of soap mixture (foam). In order to avoid an explosion it is categorically forbidden to use flame.

When you feel gas smell indoors, in order to avoid an explosion it is forbidden to light matches, lighters, use electric switchers, enter with open flame, or with a cigarette.

If gas escapes out of an open valve on a gas appliance, it must be closed; thoroughly ventilate the room, and only after this the fire may be ignited. In case of gas escape as a result of a damage in gas network, or an appliance, you must stop using them, ventilate the room and immediately call gas emergency by phone 04.

The gas stove should be kept clean, prevent its dirtying.

The distance from a gas stove to the wall (partition) should be not less than five centimeters.

Remember: keeping these basic rules of fire safety when using household gas appliances will save your home and life from fire.
