The heads of the Russia EMERCOM and the Republic of Tatarstan discussed issues of cooperation

1 December 2024, Sunday

On November 28, in Moscow, Alexander Kurenkov and Rustam Minnikhanov reviewed the possibilities of improving the system for ensuring integrated security for residents and territories of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Various types of fire protection continue to develop in the region, which significantly affects the increase in the level of response to fires, road accidents and other incidents. 106 units of the republican fire service cover rural settlements remote from regional centers and cities. Taking into account the federal fire service, the territory of the subject is fully covered.

The parties discussed the equipment of the units, including modern models of equipment. This year, more than 25 units of various types of equipment have entered service. Capital repairs of fire stations and construction of new ones are planned for the next year at the expense of the republican budget.

"Since the beginning of the year, 3,820 fires have been registered in Tatarstan, which is almost 15% less than in the same period last year. The death toll from fires decreased by 20%, from 120 to 96 people. The positive dynamics must be increased by increasing the effectiveness of the interaction of forces and means at the federal and national levels. I place special emphasis on fostering a culture of safety among citizens. Installing a fire detector at home and having a fire extinguisher is everyone's personal responsibility. We must jointly communicate this to people," said Alexander Kurenkov, head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Autonomous smoke detectors in housing are the most effective means of detecting a fire at its initial stage. In just eight years of the republican program, almost 440 thousand such devices have been installed in 150 thousand households in the region. The results are tangible: thanks to the operation of fire detectors, 291 people were saved, including 86 children.

During the meeting, the role of volunteers was noted. Today, there are more than 650 volunteer fire brigades in the republic. Special attention is paid to their development and equipment, and comprehensive support is provided.

Despite the persistent hot weather this year, deaths on the water have decreased. A huge role was played by the significant preventive work carried out on a daily basis by employees of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, local governments, police and volunteers.
