The Russia EMERCOM: since the beginning of the year, furnaces have caused more than 4.8 thousand fires
"This year, over 4.8 thousand fires occurred in housing due to violations of the rules of installation and operation of furnace equipment. At the same time, more than 1.3 thousand buildings were destroyed by fire, unfortunately, 368 people died. Firefighters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia managed to save more than 260 victims of the fire. Ahead of the cold weather, you need to be very demanding and attentive to safety issues when using stoves," said Alexander Kurenkov, head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
The basic safety rules for the operation of furnace heating are set out in the Rules of fire protection.
During the heating season, it is necessary to clean the chimney and the oven from soot. This should be done every three months: as often as possible, but not less often. At the same time, the chimney of the kitchen stove requires more frequent maintenance – once a month.
During operation, it is forbidden to leave unattended working stoves, as well as instruct children to monitor them. Do not ignite the oven with gasoline, kerosene, diesel and other flammable and combustible liquids.
