Yuri Venediktov: spring ice is extremely fragile
Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan Yuri Venediktov commented on the situation on water bodies.
"The ice situation in the Republic of Tatarstan is extremely difficult and tense, and it continues to deteriorate almost every day. Past rains, bright warm sun, high air temperature led to the fact that the upper part of the ice practically collapsed. The thickness of the ice has decreased sharply, especially in the channel part and ranges from 15 to 20 cm.
Spring ice has a disturbed structure, and it is extremely weak. Therefore, I appeal to fishermen: carry safety equipment with you. You need to put on a waterproof float suit - you will not drown or get wet in it. It is also important to have a life jacket and rope to help your friend in trouble in time. "
