OSVOD rescuer rescued 11 people during hurricane

31 July 2023, Monday

During the hurricane that raged in Tatarstan on July 29, Pavel Matveev, a rescuer-public figure of the SRW RT, saved 11 people, said Vyacheslav Kandrashin, head of the regional public organization "Rescue Society on the Waters of the Republic of Tatarstan".

The man was in Sviyazhsk when he received information that a boat with 4 people had run aground. Pavel got to them faster than rescuers and transported everyone on a jet ski to the shore. Soon the man found out that a boat capsized in Sviyazhsk, on which there were seven other people.

"At that moment, he could no longer contact the 112 service, because both his phone and the phones of the people from the boat had been in the water and were not working. Pavel gave his vest to the woman and transported everyone to the shore," said the head of the SRW RT.

In total, Pavel Matveev saved 11 people that day, including 5 children. And in March 2020, an 82-year-old fisherman who fell through the ice on a snowmobile was rescued in the Laishevsky district. The drowning fisherman was helped by fish protection inspectors and SRW rescuers who arrived at the scene, among whom was Pavel Matveev, who was at that moment in the raid near the village of Teteevo.  Rescuers carefully, crawling, holding each other by the legs, approached the man and pulled him out.
