Fire detectors will be installed in apartments and houses of large families from March 1, 2023

    In accordance with the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, additions were made to the Rules of the fire regime in the Russian Federation. From March 1, 2023, the following paragraph comes into force: "Autonomous smoke detectors should be installed in the rooms of apartments and residential buildings that are not protected by a fire alarm system and a fire warning system in which large families live." This was stated today by Maxim Trushchin, Deputy Head of the Department of Supervision and Preventive Work of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan, during a briefing with media representatives.
    The meeting with journalists took place at the site of the Tatar-Inform news agency. Maxim Trushchin presented the statistics of fires that have occurred in the republic since the beginning of 2022. This year, according to data at the end of November, 4526 fires were recorded. 107 people were killed in the fires, 169 people were injured of varying severity.
    The following cases account for the largest number of fires, dead and injured people:
- outbuildings on the territory of the household - 935 fires 
- apartment buildings - 486 
- private residential buildings – 460 fires
- garden houses, cottages – 152 fires
    The main causes of fires in the autumn-winter period were the following points:
- careless handling of fire – 882 fires
- violation of the rules of technical operation of electrical equipment – 518 fires
- violation of fire safety rules during the installation and operation of furnaces – 314 fires
- arson – 21 fires
