A solemn ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths at the stele of firefighter Hero of the Soviet Union Gazinur Gafiatullin took place in Bugulma.
Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations from all over the south-east of the republic arrived to honor the memory of a fellow firefighter who died in an unequal battle with the fascist invaders. Deputy head of the Almetyevsk branch "Management of contractual divisions" Albert Khamzin, personnel of the 21 fire and rescue units of the detachment headed by the chief Denis Greznev, as well as personnel of the SRU-64 led by the head of the unit and the Bugulma fire and rescue garrison Yevgeny Antonov.
The head of the Bugulma municipal district Linar Zakirov made a welcoming speech to the audience, who stressed that this stele has been a place of good meetings for many years, and also recalled what a heroic person Gazinur Gafiatullin is.
For the heroic feat, the deputy commander of the rifle division of the 20th Rifle Regiment of the 37th Rifle Division of the 22nd Army of the 2nd Baltic Front, Sergeant Gafiatullin, was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal. Schools and streets in the cities of Tatarstan are named after him, his feat is recorded in archival materials and museum expositions, as well as in this memorial stele, reconstructed in 2015 with the voluntary donations of the many thousands of employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tatarstan.
The hero's son Anvar Gazinurovich expressed gratitude to the audience for the respect and attentive attitude to the memory of his countryman and firefighter.
