Dear participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident!
April 26, 1986 – the tragic day when one of the largest man – made disasters in the history of mankind occurred-the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant-goes further and further into history. Thirty-five years separate us from those terrible events. During this time, several generations have grown up, but the people's memory of the heroes who defeated the nuclear element will never run out.
Today, when the whole world is going through the ordeal caused by the pandemic, we understand even more clearly what courage, fearlessness and professionalism people had to have at that moment to survive and win.
More than three thousand residents of the Republic of Tatarstan performed their official and civil duties to eliminate the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, many of them became disabled as a result of radiation exposure. Many of those who took the first blow of the nuclear element, unfortunately, have already gone into immortality. Eternal and bright memory to them.
We remember the lessons of Chernobyl and make every effort to increase the level of safety of the residents of Tatarstan, as well as to preserve the memory of the participants in the elimination of this and other radiation disasters.
During the existence of the Republican rehabilitation center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Tatarstan named after Sh. S. Karatai, more than twelve thousand “Chernobyl victims” and other categories of citizens affected by radiation received a course of qualified medical and psychological treatment.
On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, I express my sincere condolences to those whose relatives and friends, friends and comrades have passed away. And to those Chernobyl veterans who are protected by fate, I want to wish them good health, long and happy years of life together with their relatives and friends! We bow to your courage and dedication for the sake of the present generations!
