On March 31, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan held a briefing for journalists with the participation of the Chief state inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan for small vessels Yuri Venediktov. The topic of the briefing: "on ensuring safety on the water during the end of ice formation and the beginning of navigation of small vessels". Taking into account the restrictions adopted to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, the briefing was held remotely.
For reference:
During the ice-up period:
- incidents-13;
- lost – 4;
- saved-56.
In spring:
- incidents-12;
- lost – 1;
- saved-31.
Thus, in the current winter period, 2 people were killed and 48 more people were saved compared to the same period of the previous winter season.
This is due to extremely abnormal weather conditions, stable low air temperatures, necessary for the formation of solid ice, were held in December for almost only a week. Positive, weak negative temperatures were maintained even in January and February, and this year we closed the ice crossings in February.
Ice with a loose porous-needle structure is preserved only in river bays, ponds, and lakes. Therefore, the work of both rescue posts and patrol groups continues.
I warn you-going out on the ice is deadly not only for fishermen, but also for those who like to walk on and around the ice. We already have cases of rescuing such people, the chances of slipping, falling into icy water and drowning or freezing are high.
And taking into account the appeals of the President of Russia and the President of the Republic of Tatarstan on the prevention of coronavirus, it is better to wait out this period at home.
