An abnormally warm winter and low rainfall give hope that this spring will pass without emergencies associated with the upcoming flood. Now, according to the Nizhnevyazovskaya weather station, the height of the snow cover on average is 18 centimeters, which is 3 times lower than the average for the last 10 years. On the Volga and Sviyaga rivers, there is still ice, the average thickness of which is 23-25 cm, in the area of road and railway bridges, small washouts are already observed. The level of the Volga river is 52.8 m, which is 2.8 meters higher than last year's figures.
On the territory of our district, seven localities fall into the zones of possible flooding during the flood period – the villages of Russian Azeleevo, Tatar Tanaevo, Mamadysh-Akilovo, Utyakovo, Buzaevo, Molvino, and the village of Vasilevo. In addition, the village of Oktyabrsky (Shchuryachy Peninsula), the villages of Gorodishche, Lukovskoe, Priboy, Albaba, Bulatovo are also subject to flooding.
From March 16, monitoring and detours of settlements will be organized, as well as observation posts that will provide daily information about river levels to the unified duty and dispatch service of the Zelenodolsk district.
