Consultation and Warning About Intensification of Meteorological Phenomena from 5 A.M. to 6 P.M. on July 13, 2016

12 July 2016, Tuesday

Dear citizens! In the morning and the afternoon from 5 A.M. to 6 P.M. on July 13, thunderstorms with momentary South-West wind intensifications up to 15-18 m/s are expected locally on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.

HQ of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan Recommend:

In case of deteriorating weather conditions, being outside avoid being near power lines, trees, billboards and signboards, also keep away from building cornices, advertising stands and  streamers, do not stay near fragile shelters and rotting tree trunks. In order to avoid injuries and mutilation in case of wind gusts, it is necessary to hide in the entrance and basement of a building.

If you saw wind strengthening being in nature, you should take measures in order to not to get disoriented in the woods or on the water.

During precipitations:

- be careful when you are outside, pay attention to the integrity of the overhead power lines;

- fix poorly fortified structures on your outhouse, their destruction may harm people;

- private house owners should take measures on the preparation of water sewage and other draining systems to the rainwater runoff.

During thunderstorm:

If you are caught by the thunderstorm being in a bicycle, or a motorbike, immediately stop the trip and wait out the thunderstorm at the distance of about 30 meters from your vehicle. And you should not continue the trip on a car, because its electronics work may disrupt. You should stop, close the windows and wait out the bad weather.

If you are on an open area during the thunderstorm, it is recommended to lay down on the ground (sandy or stony), and if possible in a lowland. It is important that you are not near a river, a lake, or a pond, because water is a good conductor, and a lightning strike spreads in the radius of 100 meters from a pond.

Drivers, if possible, should refrain from trips on a private vehicle, or they should be extremely careful in the traffic.

Pedestrians should keep extreme caution during passages over highways and when they are next to them.

Be careful and cautious!

In case of any accident you can always call the single number of emergency services 112. Calls are received around the clock and free from city and cell phones.
