Ice on the reservoirs of Tatarstan is rapidly losing its strength and thickness

On rivers with a fast current or in those places where there is a discharge of warm wastewater, there are more and more dangerous places with ravines, wormwood and fragile ice, especially on the channel and off the coast. GIMS inspectors patrol the water area on a hovercraft every day and go out on the ice in compliance with safety measures - in life jackets.

"Night frosts have already stopped and in this regard, the water level in the rivers rises. And this can lead primarily to the separation of ice floes from the coast. During the monitoring of the ice situation on the Volga River, several dangerous places were identified where the ice thickness is from 15 to 20 cm. But do not forget that the ice is now becoming loose and less strong and more likely to fail, "said Denis Mokeev, head of the Kazan inspection department of the GIMS Center of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Rinat Mukhutdinov's experience in winter fishing is more than 50 years, and he never fell under the ice, because he opened and closed the season on time. First of all, due to the danger of spring loose ice.

"He is without preliminary, as they say, phenomena at once - noise! And left. Hard ice will still buckle, and this one will immediately fail, "says an experienced fisherman.

And the safest option is just not to go out on the ice!
