Storm Warning on a Complex of Meteorological Phenomena in Combination with Dangerous Meteorological Phenomena on the Territory of the Republic of Tatarstan

From the afternoon on July 9 until night on July 10, 2016, during the passage of active front divisions and occurrence of a cyclone, there are thunderstorms, heavy and very heavy rain, strong wind with gusts up to 15 to 20, locally to 25 m/s, hail on some areas are expected on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In case of deteriorating weather conditions, being outside avoid being near power lines, trees, billboards and signboards, also keep away from building cornices, advertising stands and  streamers, do not stay near fragile shelters and rotting tree trunks. In order to avoid injuries and mutilation in case of wind gusts, it is necessary to hide in the entrance and basement of a building.

If you saw wind strengthening being in nature, you should take measures in order to not to get disoriented in the woods or on the water.

During precipitations:

- be careful when you are outside, pay attention to the integrity of the overhead power lines;

- fix poorly fortified structures on your outhouse, their destruction may harm people;

- private house owners should take measures on the preparation of water sewage and other draining systems to the rainwater runoff.

During hail:

- if possible do not exit home;

- being in a room, keep away from the windows as far as possible;

- do not use electric devices, because usually hail is accompanied by thunder process;

- being outside, try to choose a shelter, if it is possible, secure your head from hail hits (cover your head by hands, bag, clothes);

- do not try to find a shelter under trees, because it is a great risk of not only catching lightnings by them, but also of that big hailstones and strong wind may break tree branches, that may cause you additional damages.

During thunderstorm:

If you are caught by the thunderstorm being in a bicycle, or a motorbike, immediately stop the trip and wait out the thunderstorm at the distance of about 30 meters from your vehicle. And you should not continue the trip on a car, because its electronics work may disrupt. You should stop, close the windows and wait out the bad weather.

If you are on an open area during the thunderstorm, it is recommended to lay down on the ground (sandy or stony), and if possible in a lowland. It is important that you are not near a river, a lake, or a pond, because water is a good conductor, and a lightning strike spreads in the radius of 100 meters from a pond.

Drivers, if possible, should refrain from trips on a private vehicle, or they should be extremely careful in the traffic.

Pedestrians should keep extreme caution during passages over highways and when they are next to them.
