The Headquarters of EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan warn: furnaces which are located in the house should be in good condition and safe in relation to fire.
It is necessary to remember that a fire may occur as a result of influence of fire, or sparks through cracks and looseness in furnace and smoke channels laying. In connection with this, it is necessary to thoroughly watch furnaces and chimneys periodically, eliminate malfunctions, and make repairs if necessary.
When using furnaces, the following requirements should be implemented:
- there should be nailed a steel sheet with the sizes of 50x70 cm and the thickness of not less than 2 mm before the fire-box, it will prevent against fire from occasionally fallen down sparks;
- it is forbidden to light kindle furnaces with petrol, kerosene, and other flammable liquids;
- it is forbidden to dispose fuel, and other flammable substances and materials on the steel sheet before the fire-box;
- do not use firewood which exceeds the size of the fire-box;
- it is unacceptable to kindle furnaces with opened doors;
- the ash and slag which are shoveled from fire-boxes should be poured with water and removed to safe place specially reserved for them;
- chimneys on combustible roofs should have spark arresters (metal grids);
- as a rule, chimneys are cleaned up from soot before the heating season, and at least once every two months during the heating season;
- do not leave firing furnace unattended, and do not entrust their oversight to young children.
