This was announced by Regina Gayazova, head of the Department of Human Safety at Water Facilities of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, voicing the data of the Department of the Russian Hydrometeorological Service for the Volga Federal District, during a briefing today.
The briefing for media representatives was devoted to the situation on water bodies in the Republic of Tatarstan. A sharp increase in air temperature, which is 4-6 degrees higher than the long-term values for mid-March, affects the strength of the ice cover of reservoirs. According to Regina Gazovaya, ice on rivers with strong currents quickly changes from a solid structure to a loose one. It is "melted" by rains, strong currents, and warm sunshine. The ice is weak, it can no longer cope with the load and may collapse at any moment.
SISV inspectors are already everywhere recording dangerous places where gullies have appeared and are expanding. The risk group includes anglers, ice walkers, and those who want to ride snowmobiles with the breeze.
