    This was stated today by Rustam Nigmatullin, Deputy Chairman of the Commission for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations and Fire Safety of the Republic of Tatarstan, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, during a meeting on "additional measures to ensure fire safety of the population during the New Year and Christmas holidays."
    The meeting was attended by members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Tatarstan and invited heads of republican executive authorities, chairmen and members of commissions of urban districts and municipal districts, heads of local governments and organizations (via videoconference).
    New Year's Eve is the most fire–prone holiday. During the January holidays, 87 fires occurred in the republic, which killed 5 people, including one child. These days, 4 cases of injuries during the use of pyrotechnics have also been recorded. 
    During the meeting, it is proposed to consider issues of ensuring fire safety of social facilities, culture and educational institutions.
    Summing up, Sergey Zakharov recommended that public utilities clean the roofs of snow in order to avoid snow falling on passers-by.
    First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin also asked the heads of municipalities to pay attention to this danger during the thaw.
