GIMS recommends that boatmasters take into account the decrease in water levels at the Kuibyshevsky and Nizhnekamsk reservoirs

29 September 2021, Wednesday

In September, 4 cases of aground planting on the Volga River were registered, of which one case was in the Kirovsky district of Kazan and in the Zelenodolsky district, as well as 2 cases in the Spassky district of Tatarstan. This is due not only to a decrease in the water level on the Volga, but also to the inattention of boatmasters transiting through the republic and not familiar with the features of the water area from other regions of the country. In addition, the water level has not yet reached a critical mark for navigation.

The State Inspectorate for Small Vessels recommends boatmasters to move only in checked places, and in unfamiliar areas of the water area to move at a reduced safe speed and use echo. In the dark, it is necessary to move only with the lighting devices and onboard lights on.
