During the flood period, special attention is paid to small rivers
Kazan began to prepare for the flood period. Today, members of the flood control commission inspected the condition of small rivers in the Sovetsky district of the city, which require special attention during the spring flood season. Small rivers, the banks of which are built up everywhere by the private sector, during the period of intense snowmelt, and this year the snow cover is quite large, bring considerable problems to both homeowners and representatives of city services responsible for the safety of flood passage.
The head of the Civil Protection Department under the Executive Committee of Kazan, Ferdinant Timurkhanov, and a representative of the Sovetsky District administration drove along the riverbed of the Kinderka River and monitored the work being carried out near the bridge crossings to clear the riverbed of thickets of shrubs and trees and to free the drainpipes from ice and debris.
- During the detour, special attention was paid to small rivers and coastal areas in residential areas of private development, - Ferdinant Timurkhanov, head of the Civil Protection Department under the Executive Committee of Kazan, told about the goals of the event. - A large number of crossings over small rivers attracts special attention. Numerous crossings and crossings over small rivers are built by the residents themselves for their own needs. And they need them. But in a flood, it is not just a bridge, it is an artificial dam on the path of meltwater. And this year, taking into account the high flood situation, we need to pay special attention to the passability of water under such barriers.
In total, 337 private houses in which 976 people live, including 236 children under the age of 14 and 277 elderly people over 60, fall into the zone of possible flooding in Kazan.
The Civil Protection Department, together with the administrations of the districts of Kazan, has identified 15 temporary accommodation points with a total capacity of 5,208 people. In each district of the city, mobile groups are identified, equipped with pumps, equipment and people.
Preparation of the city for the flood is carried out in accordance with the Plan of flood prevention measures approved by the resolution of the Executive Committee of Kazan. By the order of the Head of the Executive Committee, the city flood control commission was established.
