For 10 months of the current year in the territory of the Republic there were 5 thousand 21 fires in which 115 people were lost that is 14,5% more, than last year. The increase in the number of deaths in fires is observed in 17 municipalities.
According to Rafis Khabibullin, it is impossible to reduce the number of fires only by developing fire-fighting forces and equipping them with modern equipment. This can only affect the speed of response of fire brigades. "Taking into account the fact that almost 90% of the deaths are caused by fires in residential buildings, the main focus of our work is on fire prevention among the citizens of the Republic," he said.
Work on the installation of detectors continues, Rafis Khabibullin stressed. The price of one device is about 250 rubles. To date, 12 thousand 291 devices have been installed in 6 thousand 377 households in municipal districts on an initiative basis. Of these, 5 thousand 173 detector installed by municipal authorities and 7 thousand 118 - at the expense of personal funds of citizens.
