Fifteen years of tragedy in Beslan. Essay on delivery of humanitarian aid from Tatarstan

3 September 2019, Tuesday

"PREVENTION, RESCUE, HELP." Figuratively speaking, the activities of the Ministry of emergency situations are based on these “three whales”. And the third block-assistance-is not only the elimination of the consequences of emergencies, rehabilitation of territories and population. The Ministry of emergency situations is responsible for collecting and sending humanitarian aid to victims of natural disasters and terrorist attacks. And in the nineties, and in two thousand employees of the Ministry of emergency situations of Tatarstan accompanied "humanitarian aid" to Turkey after the earthquake, to Afghanistan, to the North Caucasus - to Chechnya and Ingushetia, to Yakutia and the southern Federal district, when there were serious floods.

But one of the most striking examples of the mid-2000s in terms of collection and delivery of humanitarian cargo Tatarstan emergency workers rightly consider assistance to Beslan. Exactly fifteen years have passed since the tragedy that occurred on September 1-3, 2004 in the Ossetian city of Beslan. The terrorist attack shook the whole of Russia to the core. Residents of the Republic of Tatarstan responded to the Beslan events, regardless of their nationality and religion.

Now that the September events in Beslan are becoming the past, we need to learn to live with that memory. Again and again to try to mitigate the consequences and do everything to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
