March 1 - world civil defense day!
World Civil defence day is celebrated on 1 March. In our country this day is celebrated since 1990, although in the world it was introduced in 1931 on the initiative of several States. Then the French General of medical service Georges Saint-Paul founded in Paris "Association of Geneva zones "- local "security zones" in all countries, which was then transformed into the International civil defense organization (ICDO). In 1972, the ICDO was granted the status of an intergovernmental organization. Russia became a full member of this organization in May 1993, when the civil defense units joined the Ministry of emergency situations.
An important aspect of cooperation between the EMERCOM of Russia and the ICDO is the training of Russian specialists in the courses of the ICDO, which is held in training centers around the world. For its part, the ICDO assists the EMERCOM of Russia in promoting initiatives in the field of international cooperation. For example, ICDO actively distributes and promotes advanced Russian developments and technologies in the field of aviation firefighting, humanitarian demining, disaster medicine and rescue cynology.
Today, this holiday is designed to draw public attention to civil defense issues. It is also celebrated to promote and disseminate knowledge of the means and methods of protection in the broad sense of the word. The personnel of civil defense units and services work selflessly in their posts and ensure the safety of the population and territories from emergencies in peacetime and wartime.
