Allocution of the chief of EMERCOM of Russia on RT Lieutenant General of internal service Rafis Khabibullin on the Day of memory of those, who died in radiation accidents and catastrophes

26 April 2019, Friday

Thirty-three years ago, in April 1986, the fourth unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded. The scale of the tragedy could have been immeasurably greater, if not for the courage and dedication of the participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, who came from all over the country, including from Tatarstan, and entered into a "battle" with radiation.

We remember the lessons of Chernobyl and do our best to prevent anything of the kind, to improve the safety of citizens and to preserve the memory of the participants in the elimination of this disaster.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, I Express my sincere condolences to those whose relatives, friends and comrades have passed away. We are proud of our countrymen and will never forget their names. They did everything necessary and possible, took a mortal risk for the sake of life.

I wish you health, vivacity, fortitude, a worthy and long life!
